What an exciting night for Chicago Bears fans. In a do or die situation, they did what they had to. In a nail biting first half things looked grim. There were more flags than countries flying around that field. I threatened to turn off the television I don't know how many times. A Bear fan since birth I knew not to miss the second half, when the game actually begins.
Devin Hester, where to begin? He's magic on the field. It didn't take him long to get the Bears momentum going. A 75 yd punt return to tie the game 13-13. But wait, he wasn't done there. After Broncos bring the score to 20-13. Hester receives the kickoff, and whoosh.... magic, it's a tied game again.
Denver Broncos eventually took the lead to make the score 34-20 with about 10 minutes left in the game. But the Bears weren't done yet. Tillman blocks a punt and it's Chicago ball with only the goal to go. It was a hand off to Peterson. In an all out effort by the Bear's offense Peterson was pushed, literally, into the end zone. Score now 34-27.
On the next Bear's possession 4th down, Grossman bombs for an incomplete pass. Which resulted in an automatic 1st down after a Bronco made illegal contact with the intended receiver. Grossman passed to Berrian in the end zone which after review was ruled a touchdown to tie the game. Over time here we come.
In a coin toss the Bears receive the ball and Grossman passed the ball again. It was in the air my heart stopped as I remembered how many incomplete, dropped balls we experienced in the game, I jumped from the couch not realizing the baby put his snacks on my lap. Clark caught the ball!! Trix were everywhere and I didn't care. Grossman takes a knee and Robby Gould made the game winning field goal! What a game!
Although both the offense and defense have been struggling this season, this game was true Bear's football. There were mishaps but, for the first time in awhile I saw the heart of the Bear's again.
