Another Spears ... Speared!

It has been officially confirmed. The little 16 year old sister of the infamous Britney Spears, Jamie Lynn Spears, is expecting. The announcement came in yesterday to announce that she is 3 months along with the child of boyfriend, 18 year old, Casey Aldridge.

I honestly wish her the best. Jamie may be young and overinfluenced by her "wild, out of control" sister, but has a bit of responsibility factor to her. Yes, pregnant at 16 is not the most responsible thing to do. She just seems to be lined up a little more straight than other family members. I have never heard of her on a drug quest or a drinking bindge nor have I heard that she does the occasional take and go.

It's unfortunate that she is so young. But teen pregnancies occur in the upwords of 2800 teen pregnancies per day. I hope she has learned from the mistakes that Britney has thrown at the public eye. This may even be a blessing for Britney as well. She needs a little responsibility lesson.

Some are poking fun that Jamie has decided to raise her baby in Louisiana, in order to give it a "normal" family life. What's normal to you? What's normal to the Spears family? They've been raised in the public eye. Cameras everywhere. But the one place that we don't hear much about is them in their hometown. That is where their normalcy thrives. It's the one place that I bet they can be themselves and not be chased around. So I can't blame Jamie for making this decision. I actually commend her for keeping the child and not taking the easy way out. Instead, she is playing the responsible for her actions card. Good for her!

Dysfunctional... yes, no doubt! Yet that word could describe most families in our modern day. Would everyone really be throwing such a fit if it was lil cousin Mary, head cheerleader, no. Would you really notice? The Cleavers grew up, The Brady's... moved on. We need to support our kids when they make bad decisions. Not mistakes.. God doesn't make mistakes and everything happens for a reason. Again... maybe the new little Spears will give a life lesson to Aunt Britney.

Good luck Jamie Lynn.

Christmas.... Not How I Remember It

The memories from my childhood replay as if it was yesterday. Putting up the tree, making cookies, the glow as we sat by the fire. The caroling, the smiling and the celebration of the birth of Jesus. Wow, how times have changed. It seems we're too busy to sit and enjoy some little things that only come only at Christmas.

In todays world, we're too busy making sure we get everything on the wish lists of our kids. (I guess that whole element of surprise thing isn't all I remembered it to be.) Whether it's an Elmo, an Xbox or a Wii, we have to get it at all cost. Thrown out the window is the true meaning, the time spent with family, and the true spirit within. No one has time for a short hello because we're out shopping and shoving and spending galore. What happened? When did we stop caring?

Just once I'd like for Christmas to be a time of no hassle. Just a simple special holiday for all to enjoy together. Maybe it's time we took the reins and made our kids see the holidays as they can be ,so they can also share our memories.

~8~Merry Christmas~8~

The Bear's put their heart in it.... win the game!

What an exciting night for Chicago Bears fans. In a do or die situation, they did what they had to. In a nail biting first half things looked grim. There were more flags than countries flying around that field. I threatened to turn off the television I don't know how many times. A Bear fan since birth I knew not to miss the second half, when the game actually begins.

Devin Hester, where to begin? He's magic on the field. It didn't take him long to get the Bears momentum going. A 75 yd punt return to tie the game 13-13. But wait, he wasn't done there. After Broncos bring the score to 20-13. Hester receives the kickoff, and whoosh.... magic, it's a tied game again.

Denver Broncos eventually took the lead to make the score 34-20 with about 10 minutes left in the game. But the Bears weren't done yet. Tillman blocks a punt and it's Chicago ball with only the goal to go. It was a hand off to Peterson. In an all out effort by the Bear's offense Peterson was pushed, literally, into the end zone. Score now 34-27.

On the next Bear's possession 4th down, Grossman bombs for an incomplete pass. Which resulted in an automatic 1st down after a Bronco made illegal contact with the intended receiver. Grossman passed to Berrian in the end zone which after review was ruled a touchdown to tie the game. Over time here we come.

In a coin toss the Bears receive the ball and Grossman passed the ball again. It was in the air my heart stopped as I remembered how many incomplete, dropped balls we experienced in the game, I jumped from the couch not realizing the baby put his snacks on my lap. Clark caught the ball!! Trix were everywhere and I didn't care. Grossman takes a knee and Robby Gould made the game winning field goal! What a game!

Although both the offense and defense have been struggling this season, this game was true Bear's football. There were mishaps but, for the first time in awhile I saw the heart of the Bear's again.

Britney Spears... a comeback or a please comedown?

After anxiously awaiting the comeback performance of the infamous "Princess of Pop" during the VMA Awards, I was overcome with several emotions towards Britney. Her slow stripper-esq moves, accompanied by a mirage of lip syncing proved to be a little damning. At times it appeared as if she was filled with fear and a little unsteady, staring at the floor below. Of course, that may be because she was attempting to dance in boots with heels made of toothpicks. Tall toothpicks at that. The crowd seemed to be mixed with emotions as well. Could it be because she hasn't had an album out since, what was it 2003 and still managed to book time on the show? Or could it have possibly been the entourage of dancers on poles that appeared to be straight from the corner strip club? Either way Britney Spears set out and conquered what she set out to do. Its up to the rest of the world to decide if she deserves a 2nd, no 3rd or whatever chance she's on to lead her through the rest of her career. All in all, the song was rather catchy and does stand a chance even if Britney has problems standing on her own. As well as a performance that is worth the watch and I give the girl props for coming out post breakdown and divorce and at least trying.

Snap out of it!!!

What is up with Britney Spears? Every time I turn around her face is on a magizine in a grocery aisle showing another part of her that I'm not interested in seeing.

Her attractiveness is not the issue. She's beautiful, I think everyone mostly agrees with that. The problem is she has more fruitiness than a bowl of Fruit Loops ( and possibly minus a few Loops). I actually saw a picture of her on the internet and I couldn't believe my eyes, )if you've seen the knock of Brady Bunch Movies you'll understand) Britney was sporting the Jan Brady "I'm hearing voices" glare. It was hilarious but at the same side sad. I feel sorry for her babies. What could be going through their minds?

Shocker to us all, K-Fed... dad of the year. Who would of thought that only a few years ago we were reading about his lack of parenting skills, his partying ways and his all about K-Fed attitude. I would of never though he would be the one to step up and see what's in the best interest of the boys. He has taken great care of them and honestly did a better job than Britney by what I read. (I obviously have no inside connections on that issue my opinions are all based on hearsay!)

For now I'll sit back and watch Britney spiraling out of control while she embarks in a little more self destruction. How soon she'll hit rock bottom? It's hard to say, I thought she had done that already. Being a mom of 5 I know it's gets a little tense, ok it gets extremely intense here and it's hard to stay in control. But there's a big difference in myself and Britney. I'm with my kids 24 hours a day most of the time. I don't have a nanny to take over my mom jobs, I don't have a maid to clean up after anyone (I am the maid), and I'm not loaded with cash. I'm not sure exactly what Britney would do if she were me, she's already losing it without having the stress of a normal life. That's scary.

Almost here...

After 9 months of waiting, wishing , hoping, dreaming of what he will look like... the time is almost here. In just a few hours or less I will become an aunt for the first time.
My emotions are filled with excitement. I just wish I was there to share this moment with my brother and his wife. Over 1000 miles away and on standby I will wait, until I hear his cry over the phone and get the mommy and baby are doing just fine call.
That should hold me over while I wait 1 more day before I can make the trek to visit my awaiting nephew.
My daughter's birthday is today as well . She had asked us to wrap up a present for her... I wonder if she'll take a bouncing baby boy wrapped in a blue receiving blanket?? Of course she will. A special day indeed to have your first cousin share this day with her.

It's OK to lie....

Our very own President has sent another great message to our people and others. It's ok to lie!
Earlier today President Bush commuted Lewis Libby's sentence for perjury and obstruction of justice sighting it was too harsh. I guess that depends on what class you're in and who you know.
If Jim on the corner were to of done exactly what Mr. Libby had, the sentence would be fair. But if you know the President, it has come to my understanding, you are above the law. Nice message Bush... real nice.

What do your children see?

I was extremely exhausted from spending the week helping with Vacation Bible School. Without realizing I fell asleep watching the news. I awoke to two kids (5&7) glued to the tv screen.
It took me a minute to gather my composure when their conversation hit me. Fox news was airing the thwarted London terror attacks and the Glascow airport attacks, which triggered 9/11 in my son's(7) mind. He was explaining everything he seen that September day. He had just turned 2 when that had happened. when he saw the flames on the vehicle it reminded him of the traumatic scene a few years back.

Sometimes I wonder do I explain the evils of the world to my children? Am I to be brutally honest or do I mask the truth and pretend that its okay? The world is evil. It's not necessarily a battlefield here at this time. Or is it? We in our country don't see the things the children in Iraq see first and, but our kids do see the hate growing between cultures. They see our people killing each other over new shoes or disagreements. The world is filling up with hate , violence and viral happenings that is just to hard to cover up anymore. Do you know what your children see? What do you tell them?

When does school start again???????

I love my kids... don't get me wrong, but I am about to lose my mind! They have so much bottled energy built up that they are starting to convulse.
I had dreamed of a quiet summer with them helping me with everything that needs done...boy was I wrong on that one.
My days are filled with screaming, fighting, doors slamming, and times that I think they forgot who the boss is. I'm ready to call Calgon and beg them to take me away!
Now remind me again.... when does school start???

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

I remember those....

I remember those days not too long ago.
We were smitten with love, forgotton our woes.

How in your arms, the nights I would spend.
Just you and me, my forever best friend.

I tried to give you love no one could contest.
I tried to please you, I gave you my best.

Now all through the night I watch as you sleep,
recalling the promises you swore you'd keep.

Now where do we stand? Is this the end?
Or have I already lost my forever best friend...

Time to Trim the Bush (Administration)

I admit I was naive to the promises that the current President Bush so cunningly presented to the American people when he began is first campaign. I fell for is charming southern ways, his fun loving personality and is faith in God. But this love affair has ended for me. I finally have opened my eyes to see the chaos that he has created.

Yes September 11th is a day I will never forget. I saw things that year that both broke my heart and at the same time filled me with pride. I too was ready to take on whomever stood in the way of my country. I once knew what it felt like to have the American pride my grandpa spoke of. But i didn't let that stop me from shaking hands, hugging, and befriending those who are foreign to this nation.

I remember going to the grocery store. I had on my glorified colors, chest out , no one could knock me down. I walked through that store looking for anything else red, white and blue I could get my hands on when I saw first hand what others that are visitors here were going through. A Muslim father pushing is 2 young children in the cart, not blinking an eye as he stared at the floor while others whispered and mocked is culture. His children bright eyed and smiling, not a clue as to the world around them crumbling. I couldn't help myself but feel the pain he was enduring, though it wasn't his fault. A voice inside me rhetoric from years past played in my head. Treat others as you want to be treated. I swallowed the lump in my throat and walked over. I graciously stuck out my hand not sure if he would accept. I felt the stares. He looked up you could see a small bit of relief as e extended his hand to mine. No words exchanged, there need not be. But, September 11th has come and gone.

This used to be a great nation, we're more divided than we've ever been. In some aspects it still is and it can be with the right leadership. Unfortunately, the Bush administration was the wrong choice and I hope we have learned from our mistakes. We need drastic reform to bring back the nation we so loved before we created a vengeance that may be difficult to undo.

Our own government as lead us in the direction of hate and have turned the world against us. Everyday it seems we, the American people, are punished for actions that yes we may have condoned in the beginning, but thought by now there would've been an end to it all. There is no easy solution. No matter what the decision is there will be opposers. There will always be the what ifs, whys and how's.We have made enemies of those who once were our allies. We are fighting wars in two countries and with the Bush Administration on it's way out, I'm afraid to think ahead on where we will be lead next. There's no end in sight for our troops. They are suffering in more ways than we are. Divorce rates in the military are rising. The children of those serving are suffering and becoming statistics. By no means is this writing to be against our brave men and women. They are there because of our government. Yes they entered the military by choice. Some to carry on family tradition and some fight to protect our nation. They should be commended for their duty. When our country called they followed. My grandpa and his brothers did the same in WWII as did his father in previous wars and so on. Vietnam included. Look what we've done to those men and women. How many of you remove your hat, salute and thank a veteran for fighting for your rights and country no matter what the circumstance? Have you ever sat with one of those men one time and listened to the pride in his voice even after he lost both legs and 10o friends he so willingly calls his brothers. By no means is it their fault we went in with blind eyes then and we've done it again.

Our own oil companies are single-handedly draining our pockets while reaping the rewards. They know we can't live without oil, whether it's to get to work or eat our homes. We need it. For large families like mine. The only vehicle we fit in are the guzzlers. When you add in the fact that minimum wage is only $5.15 and hour, we are paying half of our salary to put gas in the vehicles just to get to work and school. That doesn't leave much for food and necessities. Yes it was announced that minimum wage will go up by the end of summer and by the end of the year again. But how does that help now and will it really be a Godsend? It seems like yes this is going to help out the American workforce now? Factor in the minimum wage increase and the rise in fuel prices, our food and necessities will follow suit, as they are doing so now. Businesses are going to continue to pass their costs onto the consumer which puts us back into the situation we are already in. Jobs will be lost, homes will be lost and goods may be harder to come by. We're going to see more people signing onto welfare just to be able to thrive in this country.

I know what it's like to have to choose between food and heat. I don't know what to say when my 5 year old asks if we're poor. I'm rich in the sense I have my family, I have my faith and I've been blessed with love. But I am poor when it comes to finances. We were thrilled when my husband landed a decent paying job after we struggled to make ends meet. We finally were able to get off of assistance, buy our house and support our family. Were is the key word here. We are back to square one. I've taken a part time job and I work around my husbands schedule. But business isn't quite taking off this year. I was making $300.00 every 2 weeks, my last paycheck $25.00. The hours aren't there. This isn't working. We're struggling. Seeing my first nephew after his birth will not happen. We had planned and saved for the last 9 months for this special occasion, the funds are no depleted and the chances of going are getting slimmer everyday.

It's time the presidential candidates start looking at the lives of the middle and lower class Americans and come up with a solution. The gap between the rich and the poor is rapidly growing. Why are the wealthy not penalized for taking a private jet cross country to have dinner and shop? Why not require that more refineries be built? Since the activists, and political figures have changed regulations and made it harder for the current refineries to run their course, we are the ones it affects. Years back there were no problem. We had gas ... it was affordable because no one messed with it. Global warming .. blah blah.. by the time my great great grand children's grandchildren are here they will have taken over technology and come up with environmental cars. But we need help now!

Why is the government turning the cold shoulder to those who really need it. I am ashamed that I voted for the current government. I myself do not want to support anyone that President Bush is endorsing. Like I said before.... the love affair is over. I'm ready to put on my work gloves and trim the Bush Administration and bring in someone who fights for OUR people. .

Celebrities stingy?

I was watching the news this morning about 3 yr old Maddy MCCann. She was abducted last week through her resort flat window while vacationing with her family. I am impressed and amazed at the numerous British celebrities who have donated millions to find this child. Although at the same time I am saddened by that as well. Every minute in this world a child is abducted and yet, do you hear about it? We mostly hear of the high profile cases. Rich families seem to take the spotlight away from the impoverished ones.
My next complaint would is why don't the American celebrities do this as well? Are they that stuck up in "their world" to help raise funds when a child goes missing? Take Trenton Duckett (2) of Leesburg, Fla for instance. His family came up with a mere $20,000 give or take. They had Mark Lunsford, father of Jessie Lunsford who met her fate in the hands of a repeat sex offender, AMW John Walsh, father of murdered Adam Walsh (killer unknown) and Nancy Grace. Yet, no one capable of donating large amounts to bring this baby back to his family came forward? Too busy? The money raised came from Trenton Duckett's father, Josh Duckett's persistant outcry to the public, and local businesses. But the small donations were thwarted by the family of baby Trenton's mother, Melinda Duckett. Melinda committed suicide 2 weeks after her son went missing. If she knew where he was , she took it to her grave. We are Americans. We've always been the ones to open our hearts and our pockets, tight as they may be to come to the aid of others. Are celebrities that live in this nation too good to help aid in child abduction donations?
The celebrities overseas should be commended for thei help with Maddy's reward fund. They include Simon Cowell, JK Rowlings, The Beckum's, and a business man (who I apologize to for forgetting his name, but made the first donation) and I'm sure I'm missing other names as well.
I will continue to pray for the Duckett's. Trenton has found a special place in my heart. Never will I give up hope. My prayers to Maddy's family and all the other children that are stripped from their lives and families lives.

Happy Mom's Day!

Today is my 12th year of being a mom. I love being a mom, though sometimes it's very trying, stressful and chaotic. How else would anyone want to live their life? Sitting back alone in a sitting chair watching the clouds role by? Or would you like to view the world through a child's eyes and view life in the purest, adventurous way possible. I'll keep the latter!
Happy Mom's Day to all the Mom's who know how to see the world from a different view.

Empty

Why is it that a person finds themselves trying to prove something to another? Not in a competitive sense, but a inner longing to do so.
As a child my dad was absent quite a bit, whether it be an affair, drinking, work or what not. I remember finding myself often scared to death when he would go on his alcohol rages, which lead to added stress on my mom. I soon came to know the evil things a parent can say. : I should have had an abortion," "it's your fault your dad's gone," " we never wanted you," should I go on? I grew up wit this empty hole inside that has never been filled. My grandparents were the only ones I had that were stable and yet I still have the empty feeling.
My mom has now found God, remarried and for the most part has done a 360. On the other hand, my dad found his wife (affair) and decided to have kids and adopt more. The constant rubbing in your face about the things they buy for them or the time they spend on expensive vacations are enough to kill someone who longed just to know her daddy. I put up a false front, a smile that hides the crushing of my heart. I've never asked for anything materialistic from my daddy. Just love. The kind of love that I've seen other daddy's and daughters share.
Now I find myself always dropping whatever I'm doing to help him and his family but in return.. not even a thank you, almost like it's expected of me. I still have that empty feeling. It never goes away. I get the comment quite often asking why am I trying to prove myself to him. I step back look at the events and answer every time......because he's my daddy.

Sony Walkman NW-S705F _My Review

I got a steal online for the Sony Walkman 2GB NW S705F with noise cancelling earbuds. Retails in excess of $234.00 on some sites.
I have to give Sony props on this one. I read reviews the Sonic software and was pleasantly surprised that it's not that bad. My music transferred in under 10 secs. (I just added my music that was already on my computer.) My device itself is pink but, I would say more Rose colored. Very shiny and attractive. It is not as light as I'd of imagined either, very sturdy little thing. It also has a FM tuner in it. Again, I was shocked at the stations that came it picked up and the clarity ...wow. (Can't get that on your Ipod.) I'm probably the only one left on the Earth who does not own any kind of an Apple Ipod. So for me to be able to figure this out was very easy. I was at first thinking I got ripped off because I saw no screen. Found it though when I plugged it into the computer. The screen actually glows though the device. All this and the fact that it takes 3 minutes to charge and will play for up to 50 hrs just on that charge. Awesome!! My only regret is not buying more..... I could kick myself!!So if you find a deal on one of these...definately don't hesitate, GET IT!

Celebrating ~ El Día de los Niños " The Day of the Child" at the Indianapolis Children's Museum

Today I decided to pack up the kids and take a road trip. Little minds crave knowledge and I knew the perfect place to go, the Indianapolis Children's Museum. (Also, it was one of only a handful of free days out of the year.)

Today was El Día de los Niños at the museum. Many countries celebrate this day which translates to " The Day of the Child. It's a day to celebrate kids as well as different bilingual cultures.

I was quite impressed at the different activities they had set up for everyone. Tables were set up on different floors with hands on crafts. I enlisted the kids in a fun time of making tissue flowers and worry dolls from Guatamala. The worry dolls were extra special because my mom and step-father have been in Guatamala for the past week on a missionary adventure. A spanish band was bellowing music throughout as children old and new danced their hearts away.

Another part of our day that fascinated us was the Dinosphere. This is a definate MUST SEE!! Everyone was a little cautious at first, since we did watch "Night at the Museum" on Friday.(That brought a whole new level of excitement!) To add funny note to it. When we entered the Dinosphere and approached the massive skeletons of the T-Rex, my 7 year old son suddenly stopped and started fumbling with his pocket. It was then I noticed he had brought a doggie bone for his safety.

Although there were several activities happening and new exibits to explore, we still enjoyed rediscovering all of the museum. The kids have always loved the train and the Discovery Zone.

After a long day and a long drive home, the day was a hit. I was glad I took the time out to celebrate my kids. I fed their minds and exposed them to a whole new world.

Have you seen Trenton?

In Aug 2006, 2 year old Trenton Duckett was reported missing from his bedroom in Leesburg, Florida by his mother Melinda Duckett.

Melinda was thought to be involved due to her suspicious actions after this was reported. Two weeks later, 21 year old Melinda Duckett, committed suicide at her grandmothers home in the Villages without leaving a clue as to what may have happened to little Trenton. Sleuther's at Ulseuth.com have thought out the possibilites of both occurances but, the fact remains, Trenton Duckett has not been found.
Please if you are going on vacation, be looking out there for Trenton so he can come home safely. It has been almost 9 months since that fateful day that Trenton disappeared, 9 months too long.
