Today I decided to pack up the kids and take a road trip. Little minds crave knowledge and I knew the perfect place to go, the Indianapolis Children's Museum. (Also, it was one of only a handful of free days out of the year.)
Today was El Día de los Niños at the museum. Many countries celebrate this day which translates to " The Day of the Child. It's a day to celebrate kids as well as different bilingual cultures.
I was quite impressed at the different activities they had set up for everyone. Tables were set up on different floors with hands on crafts. I enlisted the kids in a fun time of making tissue flowers and worry dolls from Guatamala. The worry dolls were extra special because my mom and step-father have been in Guatamala for the past week on a missionary adventure. A spanish band was bellowing music throughout as children old and new danced their hearts away.
Another part of our day that fascinated us was the Dinosphere. This is a definate MUST SEE!! Everyone was a little cautious at first, since we did watch "Night at the Museum" on Friday.(That brought a whole new level of excitement!) To add funny note to it. When we entered the Dinosphere and approached the massive skeletons of the T-Rex, my 7 year old son suddenly stopped and started fumbling with his pocket. It was then I noticed he had brought a doggie bone for his safety.
Although there were several activities happening and new exibits to explore, we still enjoyed rediscovering all of the museum. The kids have always loved the train and the Discovery Zone.
After a long day and a long drive home, the day was a hit. I was glad I took the time out to celebrate my kids. I fed their minds and exposed them to a whole new world.

Have you seen Trenton?
In Aug 2006, 2 year old Trenton Duckett was reported missing from his bedroom in Leesburg, Florida by his mother Melinda Duckett.
Melinda was thought to be involved due to her suspicious actions after this was reported. Two weeks later, 21 year old Melinda Duckett, committed suicide at her grandmothers home in the Villages without leaving a clue as to what may have happened to little Trenton.
